2022 Hyundai Palisade Complaints

The vehicle exhibits two distinct and dangerous behaviors: 1. Engine stalling upon deceleration: When slowing to a stop, the engine stalls abruptly before the vehicle comes to a complete stop, causing a sudden, unexpected deceleration that throws occupants forward with significant force. 2. Unintended surge upon brake release: When releasing the brake pedal from a complete stop, the vehicle surges forward unexpectedly and with excessive force, causing occupants to be jolted harshly without warning. Both incidents occur without any prior indication to the driver, leaving no opportunity to prevent the danger to occupants or others nearby. SAFETY RISK: Passengers were subjected to sudden, unexpected forward jolting without warning, posing a risk of injury. purchased a vehicle that has experienced ongoing mechanical and safety-related defects, including excessive oil consumption, seat belt malfunctions, and unresolved injector recall issues. Despite multiple repair attempts by the dealership, the problems continue to persist and have not been permanently corrected. These defects substantially affect the vehicle’s safety, reliability, value, and everyday use. The dealership and manufacturer represented the vehicle as reliable and safe; however, the repeated failures and unresolved recalls suggest otherwise. I believe it is misleading to continue selling or servicing vehicles with known defects that cannot be properly repaired. I have also learned that certain model years are no longer sold due to widespread malfunctioning issues that are costly for consumers to repair, yet I was not informed of these concerns at the time of purchase. Drive Seat Seatbelt unbuckles when driving. This has happened in the past lets say like every few months. In the month of April it happened twice in 1 week and the following week 5/2/26 1 time. This is a huge safety risk. Last time our vehicle went in for an oil change- dealership said there is no fix for this at this time. I filed a complaint with Hyundai XXX 5/3/26 after happened the day before. Because this vehicle’s restraint system may be unsafe to operate, I am requesting that Hyundai provide a loaner or alternate transportation until the defect is properly diagnosed and repaired. If Hyundai is unable to promptly and permanently correct this safety defect, I expect Hyundai to discuss further remedies, including vehicle replacement, repurchase, reimbursement of expenses, or other appropriate compensation. The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Palisade. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: (25V607000 (SEAT BELTS) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available although it states it is on the database. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Hyundai's recent emissions software update (9C9) has disabled engine braking, creating a risk of brake fade on grades. The vehicle is no longer able to hold speed while descending grades, regardless of downshifting, forcing the brakes to be implemented to avoid excessive speed. This was never an issue prior to the software update and happened immediately after the software was installed. Instead of holding the vehicle with the engine (foot off the gas, and downshifting) the engine will continue to increase speed up to the point of approaching maximum RPMs. Further evidence of this behavior is that trying to use the engine braking no longer shows maximum MPG on the dash, indicating the software update is still feeding fuel to the engine with the foot off the gas.
