I have had my durango for about 2 years, one day I went to start it and it clicked as if battery had died. When I jumped it, it started right up. I noticed that my dash had a tire sensor light and a light saying Overhead lamp on. I turned my overhead switch and all my lights in the car turned on and then off when i turned switch.( normal) so I knew something was up. After doing some research I read about the recall. I Made an appointment on the 15th of June to get a recall for my instrument panel fixed. I dropped my car off at 7 am my appointment was at 8am. I called around 11:30 to get an ETA since I was on a time limit for work and live an hour away. The dealership called to tell me that he needed to take out cluster and test it and if it was cluster he would have to order it and it could be a few days. If it was fine it was a circuit Issue and he would need to fix it. Thank god my mother was in the same area visiting and was able to give me a ride home. He then called that evening...

Vehicle spontaneously caught on fire while I was at an ATM. No known cause. The vehicle was in good condition for its age with no major repairs needed and no significant body damage. There had been no major mechanical changes to the vehicle during the time I owned it. It was used regularly with appropriate oil changes and repairs as needed and had otherwise been safe to drive. I was unable to extinguish the fire. Thomson-McDuffie Fire and EMS was called to extinguish flames. Vehicle was totally destroyed/irreparable. This has been a devastating financial blow to me as a single parent as due to the age of the car, it was only insured for collision. It was also a terrifying experience.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that the vehicle would lose motive power while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who tested the battery and the alternator however, neither was the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was called however, a representative was not able to be reached. The vehicle was not repaired. After searching online, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 07V092000 (Electrical System). The failure mileage was 200,052.
