The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked at the residence, after exiting the vehicle, the contact became aware of an abnormal fuel odor inside the vehicle. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a special coverage had expired. The failure mileage was 11,500.

Fuel smell - possible fuel leak - the issue had been previously addressed with replacement of fuel subassembly in both saddle tanks. I believe that it is happening again ...

There was a strong fuel smell after the last 2 times I drove it. I took it to the shop and they tell me the evap canister was saturated and the fuel pump had small cracks in it likely seeping when the car heats up. I am having the fuel pump replaced, the evap canister and several seals/hoses in hopes it won't leak again.

After filling the tank with fuel, I was immediately aware of a strong smell of gas. I am always extremely careful not to overfill causing any fuel to escape. The heavy smell/escape of fumes is such that the car simply can’t be put in my garage. The risk of igniting and fire is a risk that is unacceptable. General Motors knows about this issue as they did notify me in 2017 that my car could have this condition and that if it did, they would fix it at no charge. I didn’t have the issue at that time so didn’t take the car in. So, now that I the problem, I have taken the car to Bradley Chevrolet in my town, Lake Havasu City, AZ and am told that in order to inspect the car for this issue, I will have to pay for 10 hours of labor ($2200) and only then will they see if they can find a new tank at another dealer.
