2017 Toyota Yaris iA Complaints

The car had precisely 51,255 miles. I took it in for a 50K regular service and asked them to run a diagnostic because there was a grinding sound, so I asked them to check the transmission fluid and run an OBD diagnostic. Between my last regular service and the current service, the TRANSMISSION broke; the car is unsafe to drive at this point. The transmission could have stopped on the highway since I do not work locally. This issue happened suddenly. I took the first appointment I could get, and I am without a vehicle today. I will never feel safe in this car again. I must express my absolute disappointment in my 2017 Toyota Yaris IA with 51,255 miles. I just paid off this vehicle early through Toyota Financial. I know a car is a machine, but as a Toyota, it should not have this issue with just a little over 51K miles. I feel like Toyota sold me a lemon, and once they fix it, there will be some refurbished parts and some new neither makes me feel comfortable with the vehicle anymore. N...

  • Air Bags 11/04/2021

Our Toyota Yaris was involved in front end accident on 11/4/21; no airbags deployed as a result of the accident. The car was declared a total loss (TL) by USAA. Calliber Collision (775-353-4400) in Sparks, NV currently has the car. I requested they complete a diagnostic report on the airbags (to confirm the car has airbags, if they should've deployed, etc.) but they won't run the diagnostic report since USAA declared it a TL. (USAA confirmed this is the case - no diagnostic report will be done since the car is a TL...even when I requested the report.) Our daughter's safety was put at risk since the car's airbags did not deploy. The car had no warning messages, etc prior to the accident on 11/4/21.

  • Power Train, unknown Or Other, fuel/propulsion System 01/20/2021

I have found that the TCS/DSC control malfunctions occasionally and can lead to lose of power to the wheels right when it is necessary to avoid an accident. The worst time was when it was snowing out and even if I floored it the wheels did not turn. Once I shut off the TCS/DSC control I regained control and was able to avoid an accident. Originally I had thought that the occasional hesitation when slowing to make a turn and then suddenly accelerating only to find the car bogged down was not from the transmission but from the TCS/DSC control. Ever since the car was new I have had this problem of hesitation when turning from a slowing down to near stop then accelerating only to find that the car will not accelerate for a few seconds. I have now tried to deactivate the TCS/DSC control to avoid this problem.

  • Forward Collision Avoidance 03/29/2021

WHEN I DRIVE OVER REFLECTORS IN THE ROAD AROUND MY NEIGHBORHOOD GOING SPEED LESS THAN 25 MPH CAR WILL RANDOMLY ENGAGE FRONT END COLLISION WARNING, BOTH AT DAY AND NIGHT. THE LIGHT APPEARS ON DASH, THE ENGINE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSES AND THE CAR JERKS OUT OF MY CONTROL. I HAVE TAKEN TO TWO TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS AND SHOWED THEM VIDEO. THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE PROBLEM, AS SOON AS I LEAVE, THE PROBLEM REPEATS. I WAS TOLD THE CAR IS PERFORMING IN A NORMAL MANNER AND THERE IN NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I'VE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES AND CALLED TOYOTA DIRECTLY WITH NO ASSISTANCE.

  • Fuel/propulsion System 03/18/2021

VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC SEVERAL TIMES. CAR BEGAN JERKING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE WAS AND WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVER AND THE OTHER CARS AROUND. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN A MILE RADIUS. I BARELY MADE IT TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS FAULTY.
