2006 Nissan Titan Complaints

Truck stalled in the middle of the road due to fuel gauge sending unit failing to send correct info on how much gas was actually in the tank. It shows approx 1/4 tank of gas no matter how much gas it actually contains. Recall id: 10V074000

Noticed electrical burning smell outside the previous day but could not find the source. In the morning found that the front, passenger door had caught fire and smoldered all night long burning to a crisp. Not sure the cause. The truck was last driven on Friday and sat all weekend until the problem was discovered Monday morning. The truck still runs and as far as I can tell everything except the speaker in the door is working and the passenger power seat which was also slightly burnt.

These units are being sold at various retailers and deceptively marketed. I purchased one with the warning label defaced. The listing stated it was a bStock item due to cosmetic damage otherwise fully functional. The contact's son owns a 2006 Nissan Titan. The contact stated while his son was driving approximately 35-45 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The contact was unsure whether there were any warning lights illuminated. The contact's son was able to restart the vehicle and continued to drive; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to Pep Boys and diagnosed the failure as a vehicle dynamic control switch, acceleration, and power train systems failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the instrument cluster had failed. The dealer was not notified of the failures. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.

The part that failed was the delta stroke sensor i was coming home from the store and suddenly I noticed the brake light came on and when I pressed the brakes it made a grinding noise like it was trying to lock the brakes so it was almost impossible to stop
