2017 Mercedes-benz Metris Complaints

  • Back Over Prevention, tires 11/01/2021

    The contact owns a 2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris. The contact stated that the rear back-up camera would display a blank image while in use. The contact also stated that he replaced four tires after he noticed that the tread on all four tires were wearing excessively. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V099000 (Back Over Prevention) and 22V482000 (Tires) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The dealer had been notified about the recall and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer had been notified of the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

  • Suspension, wheels 09/10/2022

    Safety inspection of tires are showing abnormal and rapid tread wear focused on the outside facing section of tread on all four tires. While the section of tread on the inside facing section is near factory new. The vehicle was bought factory new and this is on the original set of tires. Mileage at this time is still below 25,000 as it is driven sparingly. Despite that All four corners exhibit rapid and uneven wear of the tread indicating an alignment issue from the factory. The vehicle has never been in any colision nor curbed even once. Owner research on various Metris forums show this is not an isolated issue. Many point to an error in factory parameters regarding camber as well as a excessive toe in.

    I have been trying for 5 months to get this fixed from the dealer and or manufacturer.They still state they dont have the parts or something . Its been to long and this is a serious safety hazrd to not be able to use the back up camera correctly . We are not even using the vehicle at this time .

    I was driving in a very remote location in central Utah on a paved Utah state highway and I crossed a cattle guard at about 45 mph. Immediately after crossing the cattle guard, the power steering malfunctioned, an alarm sounded and this message in bright orange appeared on the instrument panel display “Power Steering Malfunction. See Owners Manual". I immediately pulled over and stopped the vehicle. Luckily, I had cell service, so I called my Mercedes-Benz dealership and talked to someone in the service department and I also called my mechanic at an independent Mercedes-Benz shop. After these phone calls and I concluded that it would not harm the power steering system to drive, I decided to continue driving -- without power steering assist. It was hard to steer, but not unsafe on the rural 2-lane road nor on rural I-70. After driving about 30 miles in 1/2 hour, I stopped at a rest area and turned off the engine for about 10 minutes.
