2018 Honda Odyssey Complaints

  • Power Train 07/09/2026

My Honda Odyssey has always had continuous issues when sometimes driving the car at low speeds it randomly jerks, which can become an issue when driving. I believe this is related to the manufacturers reference to service bulletins #19-014 and 20-016 stating a software upgrade is required. However my local dealer is stating this software can only be carried out if it is diagnosed first and a fee will be charged and only if jerkiness is found then another fee will be charged for the software install. As this is a known issue - should this install of software be a recall item. As this to me is a safety hazard, when the car jerks unexpectedly and should not have a cost involved for diagnostic and then additional for the software update.

  • Lane Departure, forward Collision Avoidance 07/10/2026

The front camera is intermittent and sometimes it works but other times I get 5 error messages when I start my car: adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem. In reviewing online, it seems like this is a very common problem with all of these models. Since the repair rate is over $1000 you’re going to have a lot of vehicles on the road without the safety features working. Since it’s intermittent, there’s something with the connection between the camera and the computer. If the camera were broken, it wouldn’t work at all. Any people say they can bang on the camera but that doesn’t seem like a safe fix. I believe this needs to be investigated.

  • Electrical System, exterior Lighting 06/11/2026

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while a customer on Turo was driving the vehicle, the instrument panel warning lights flashed and the climate control system failed to function. The vehicle was restarted multiple times, but the instrument panel warning lights remained illuminated. The contact stated that while being driven, the vehicle was pulled over by law enforcement because the taillights failed completely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the gauge control module had failed due to corrosion from water damage. Upon further inspection during the replacement, the dealer discovered additional failures within the body control module and the taillight wiring harness. Technicians determined that the electrical failures were caused by water leaking from the rear windshield into the tailgate area. The vehicle was repaired; however, the water leak source was not addressed or sealed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. T...

  • Fuel/propulsion System 01/03/2025

Back in the fall/winner of 2024 (could have been 2025) my Honda Odyssey had a recall for a low pressure fuel pump. However, Honda and many other dealers were dealing with hundreds of thousands of recalls, and we’re only recalling the vehicles with actual symptoms. My vehicle was hesitating and experiencing sudden loss of power during acceleration therefore Honda agreed to repair my vehicle. Everything seemed to work fine after that with no issues, but approximately three months later, I was having issues with my vehicle and brought it into my Mechanic, to find out that my high-pressure fuel pump was not working properly. Upon further investigation, I found out that a bad low-pressure fuel pump starves the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) of required volume. This causes the HPFP to work far beyond its design limits to build pressure, leading to cavitation (vapor bubbles damaging internal components), overheating, and premature mechanical wear from metal-on-metal friction. When I dug a lit...
