2014 Honda Odyssey Complaints

On Saturday, May 24, 2025. I had my foot on the break as I was turning into the driveway of the building. Suddenly the car engine reved and the car acceletated toward the building wall. As this was happening I began to pump on the break and the car only stopped because it it hit the curb. This cause my passenger and me to lunge forward. My passenger hurt their wrist putting their hands on the dash as they braced for impact and I hit my forehead on the stearing wheel. . The airbags did not deploy. My cars front bumper was pushed in at the bottom and out on the right side. Thank God there was no one walking on the side walk,. The car could have crashed iinto a person or the building. There were no warning indicators .There was no police called since no one was seriously injured and the only damage done was to my car. I then carfully and slowly drove the car home and parked it. I had to wait till Tuesday to take the car to the mechanic. He kept it for 2 days and could not fi...

The contact owns a 2014 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the contact stopped at a traffic light, the light turned green, and several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle turned off and the contact merged into a parking lot and attempted to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the key fob battery was replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart. The contact was informed to disconnect the battery to reset the computer. The Roadside Assistance arrived on the scene and connected jumper cables, and the vehicle restarted. After the vehicle restarted, the contact informed AAA that assistance was not required. The vehicle then stopped again and would not move. The contact then called AAA to tow the vehicle. The contact stated that the door failed to open. The contact pressed the button to unlock the vehicle and pressed to unlock on the key fob; however, the contact was trapped inside the vehicle. The contact’s father arrived at the v...

FAILING SYSTEM: Cruise control. Attempting to stop vehicle at stop sign, engine raced, vehicle surged ahead, and could not be stopped by braking. Mechanic (not Honda) said fault was in cruise control system--that "CRUISE" was turned on, and even though cruise speed control was not set, the car was attempting to "return" to some set speed. (Normally, braking (or pressing the accelerator) turns cruise speed control off.) Several reports of the same problem appear in prior complaints, though I saw none that identified what my mechanic said was the problem. Has recurred, but not when "Cruise" lamp was on. AVAILABILITY: Yes. SAFETY: Serious, potentially life-threatening problem should the car enter an intersection with cross traffic, or overrun a barrier, or into a vehicle (or anything else) in front. This started approximately one year plus ago. The problem is exhibited mostly when the vehicle is pulling away after a stop light. From a full stop n pushing the accelerator, the vehicle pulls forward a little n then totally hesitates n stops in the middle of the intersection leaving us in a position to be hit from behind. . Consequently, the vehicle suddenly jerks n moves forward rapidly - again putting us and other drivers at risk. Also, in driving in stop n go traffic, the vehicle suddenly jerks ahead n we are at risk of hitting car in front of us or getting hit from behind. We have had the van to a Honda dealer at three different times, but they are unable to get the van to replicate that motion. There were no warning lights or messages. We have noticed recalls for other vans even up to the 2013 but NOT the 2014 Honda Odyssey!! We thought by now the 2014 would have been included in the recall, but so far no luck! Both passenger sliding doors will not open when vehicle is running or turned off. Manually trying to open the doors will not work as well.
