The contact noticed that upon closing the tailgate with the key, the rearview camera image failed to display while reversing. The contact stated that the failure was initially occurring intermittently, but the rearview camera later became inoperable. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

Although the police were called, a formal report was not filed. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.
