The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a failure with the VANOS bolts, and the contact was informed that the VANOS bolts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the engine would misfire, and the check engine warning was illuminated. The dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. Two days later, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after several attempts with the check engine warning light illuminated. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the VANOS bolts had fractured and entered the oil pan. The contact was then informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V707000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available.
