My vehicle started smelling like gas. Took it in for inspection. I went online and noticed a recall was issued for 2011 and 2012 models. Ongoing issues with fuel modules leaking although no visible cracks were present. I contacted Mercedes to have them review if this would be covered under their recall and they declined saying they did not want to cover this under their recall. Mercedes made me take the vehicle in to their dealership in Kahului Maui to verify the issue which I did. They sent me a quote for the repair with no specific parts listed, just fuel module in the amount of $1884.71. During the failure, the vehicle stalled, and the contact managed to coast the vehicle to the side of the road. Due to the failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V252000 (Steering) which she linked to the failure. The dealer then informed her that the vehicle was not under recall and the contact was given an estimate for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.
