2008 Infiniti G35 Complaints

Runaway acceleration. Three times now in the last two weeks the RPMs went to maximum redline without my foot on the accelerator pedal. Fortunately all occurred when I was at very slow speed and either in a driveway or a parking lot. Each time I immediately put the transmission to neutral and shut off the engine. For the first occurrence, Restarting the engine all went back to normal. But for the second instance, two weeks later on restart the engine again instantly went to maximum RPM (deep redline). On a second restart, with additional delay before attempting a restart, the problem cleared. I took the car to a mechanic and they said no error diagnostics were recorded. On test drive he said he noticed some brief unexpected surges. He said for liability reasons no way he would work on the car. No warnings, no instrument indications, car does not seem to "know" throttle is at max redline.

Temperature gauge shows car as running hot even after having thermostat replaced. Car continuously runs hot with no resolution from Infiniti mechanics.

Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for routine maintenance; however, the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the passenger’s side air bag sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall and the contact was provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.
