2013 Hyundai Genesis Complaints

Engine knocking. Sounds like rod thrown and bushings shot. Happened out of nowhere. Was driving 20mph and it just started banging. Doesn’t matter the speed. Feels incredibly unsafe. Seems like a similar issue to the engine recall Hyundai did for other models/years with Theta engines. There are several similar reports of engine failure from others with the same car found online. Hyundai says I need a new(used) engine for $10k

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the brake pedal was firm while depressed and then became loose, mushy, and depressed to the floorboard after acceleration. The engine was getting extremely hot. The front quarter panel was hot to touch, and the temperature increased inside the vehicle. The seat belt warning light was illuminated and was beeping. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the brake issues might lead to brake failure and a possible fire. The contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was approximately 118,500.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

recall issued for significant fire risk from ABS system. It has been over a year now and Hyundai will not even give a time estimate of when they will offer to replace the fuse block that is the fire risk. They tell me to just park my car far from any buildings?!? This is NOT a reasonable plan nor should it be this long. Waiting for the day my car combusts is not reasonable. NHTSA recommended that the dealer offer a loaner vehicle but they have not done that either.

Driving the vehicle between 35 and 40 mph, the vehicle completely shut off without warning. No check engine light prior to the vehicle shutting down. It was taking to the dealership for a scheduled oil change and the issue with was mention to the dealership. They told me that they hadn't heard of that issue at the time.
