Vehicle Speed Control

The cruise system malfunctioned. In multiple scenarios (at least three) when the cruise control was set, if the accelerator is pushed while the cruise control is engaged, the vehicle will continue to accelerate even if the accelerator is released. Disengaging the cruise control via brake usage or by hand on the steering wheel does not stop the unwanted acceleration. The only way to stop the acceleration is to move it from in Drive to Neutral. At that point, an error populates on the dash and the acceleration stops with cruise control disengagement as well. The issue is fixed upon placing the car back in Drive. Unsolicited acceleration puts the driver and others on the road at risk. The issue has not been presented to a dealer or service center for review and has not been inspected by other entities. No dash messages or warnings occurred prior to the failure.

The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler 300S. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V198000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH and making a left turn when another vehicle made a wide turn at the same time crashing into the center of the passenger side. No air bags deployed. The contact was able to turn off the vehicle. A police report was filed. There were no injuries reported. The contact stated the crash had occurred before receiving the recall notice. The dealer was contacted and confirmed the air bags needed replacing however the remedy was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
