    The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 02V178000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

    Vehicle regularly stalls while driving, going down hills and any random time at highway speeds, while in traffic, while stopped at traffic controls. This problem happens repeatedly and is apparently related to the “pump mounted driver”, which is prone to failure due to inadequate design for the use and environment. It creates random failures Of the pump to deliver fuel.

    Tire size LT245/75R16 While driving on highway at speeds between 55 and 65 mph, front driver's side tire started to vibrate. Cause of vibration was not known at the time. Within 50 miles of driving, the entire tread on the front left tire separated from the tire while traveling at 55 mph. The tire has less than 12,000 miles of wear on it at the time of failure, and the tires were bought new. Control of the vehicle was maintained during tread separation and fortunately the projectile tread did not hit other cars or people. Tire remnants are available for inspection.
