2014 Bmw 535d Complaints

On/around 4/24/2023, I was driving home at approximately 35mph when I heard a loud noise under the car as if I had run over something. I was able to safely pull into a parking lot and immediately shut off the engine. The vehicle was hard to steer but I managed to do it. There were no warning lamps or messages and the control center said "all systems are okay" I looked under the car and saw a significant amount of oil coming from underneath the car. I opened the hood and saw significant oil on the lower engine. I called AAA and had the vehicle towed to my local BMW dealership where I had worked done recently around 11/2022. My service advisor was able to check the car in and told me he would give me an update the next day. I received an inspection video on 4/25/2023 in which the service technician stated that the car experienced a catastrophic failure: the driveshaft broke and knocked a hole in the oil pan and broke a few other things. 2014 BMW 535 d THE SEATBELT BUCKLE DOE BNOT ENGAGED

Vehicle stalled at 60mph in free way without giving any check engine lights. I barely was able to pull over safely which could have ended in a big accident. This is a High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) failure as stated in recalls for these same vehicle model and years 2014-2018. Need to assure BMW takes responsibility for all vehicles to assure that this failure is avoided in all vehicles and not in some and prevent future potential accidents or death.

The contact owns a 2014 BMW 535D. The contact stated while driving out his driveway, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the SCR active reservoir needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 90,000.

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed, and the entire fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V586000 (Fuel System, Diesel). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 130,000.
